Visit to Dennegeur Primary School in Strandfontein, Mitchells Plain

On Tuesday, 19 August 2014, the READ to RISE team visited Dennegeur Primary School in Strandfontein in Mitchells Plain to read with 130 Grade 2 learners at 3 classes. The children were excited to get their very own copy of OAKY AND THE SUN to take home. Readers, Sharon, Mike and Roscoe did a great job reading with the children and teaching them about the parts of a tree and how an acorn grows to become a big oak tree. Programme Director, Taryn Lock, also taught the children our READ to RISE song, it was wonderful to hear the children sing along! A big 'Thank you' to Nooitgedacht Pers, Sappi, Alpha Graphics and Shumani Mills for sponsoring the 130 books, to Taurus School Solutions for sponsoring 2 Mini-Libraries  and to Athol WIlliams and Taryn Lock for sponsoring a Mini-Library.
