Visit to Highlands Primary School in Woodlands, Mitchells Plain

On Thursay 25 September 2014, the READ to RISE team visited Highlands Primary School in Woodlands in Mitchells Plain to read with 125 Grade 2 learners at three classes. Programme Manager Roscoe and our new Volunteer Readers, Aidan and Letitia read the story of OAKY AND THE SUN with the Grade 2 learners. They were delighted to get their very own copy to take home. We even surprised them with bookmarks which were made by Old Mutual staff on Mandela Day. We were happy to be joined by members of the Governing Body on the day.

Aidan is a monthly contributor to READ to RISE, his contributions go towards buying new books for children in Mitchells Plain. Thank you Aidan for your kindness!

Thank you to our other generous sponsors Academic Press for sponsoring these books!

"I also want to thank the team,Roscoe,Letitia and Aidan, for the beautiful story Oaky and the Sun, the smile you put on our grade 2 learners faces when they received their very own book was priceless, and did they have a bigger smile when they received the beautiful bookmarks from Old Mutal South Africa, thank you to all for making it possible." Jacky, The Librarian at Highlands Primary
