On Friday 22 August 2014, the READ to RISE team visited Meadowridge Primary School in Lentegeur in Mitchells Plain to read with 210 Grade 2 learners at 5 classes. The children were excited to get their very own copy of OAKY AND THE SUN to take home. Readers, Mike, Kevin, Aaron, Nicholas, Roscoe and Taryn did a great job reading with the children and teaching them about the parts of a tree and how an acorn grows to become a big oak tree. There was a surprise for the Grade 2 learners from Old Mutual who sponsored stationery packs for each Grade 2 learner. The children were beyond excited! Thank you Old Mutual!
